AS House

AS House is a modern residence that explores the richness of local materials through a contemporary lens. The most striking feature is the second floor, enveloped in a secondary skin made of woven rattan panels in warm brown tones, arranged within vertical frames. The structure is flanked by two towering exposed concrete walls, providing a solid and monolithic impression. At the top, a dark gable roof shelters a lush open balcony featuring a shade tree, while the ground level is equipped with a minimalist black gate and a carport roof with wooden slat detailing.

The Woven Sanctuary: The core concept is to create a "woven sanctuary," where rattan is utilized to filter sunlight and provide privacy while maintaining natural airflow throughout the home.
Tactile Contrast: The design plays with textural contrasts between the smooth, cool concrete walls and the coarse, warm woven rattan, resulting in a rich and non-monotonous visual aesthetic.
Modernizing Tradition: It elevates traditional craftsmanship (weaving) into a modern box-shaped architectural form to create a unique and eco-friendly residential identity.
Urban Greening: The placement of a tree on the top-floor balcony serves as a visual oasis and helps cool the building's temperature in a dense urban environment.
